Termites can be difficult to eradicate. If you find dry rot in your house and other treatments have failed, it may be time to consider fumigation.
Here are five ways that you can prepare your home or building for tenting.
Remove sensitive items and pets from your home
Fumigation can be harmful to living beings, which is why it is important to remove pets, plants, and perishables. You will be away during treatment, so remove items that you may need while you’re away, like clothes, drugs or medication, and pet food.
Allow for ventilation between rooms
Airflow within the home is vital during treatment. So, before you leave your home, make sure all doors inside the house are unlocked and open between rooms. Also clear access to any closets, storage rooms, and crawlspaces.
Check outdoor equipment
Remove or lower roof equipment, such as antennas and weathervanes. Also, retract any mechanical awnings if you can.
Check your appliances
Make sure any heat source or appliances are disconnected.
Clear the area surrounding your house
Rake back any gravel or mulch surrounding your home. It should be at least a foot away from the building.
